Debating veterans Aabir, Nissim and Manas, alongside debaters from the Core of 2016-17 conducted a session for the new inductees to the LDC intended to bring them up to speed with the Parliamentary Debating. Focus was given to the beauty of well-formed arguments, the magic of rhetoric, and the effects of cow farts on global warming. Attempts were also made to infuse in the juniors a sense of pride in the past, and ambition for the future, debating glory of the club. As expected, this produced crude illustrations of various bearded coordinators, monologues on our unfortunate dearth of trophies, some nostalgic tears on the part of the veterans, and not a little patronising laughter from the newbies. We’ll see how you fare, punks.
